Year 5 had their first taste of ratio this week using coloured bottle tops and then individual packets of skittles. The bottle tops gave them an initial simple idea of ratio working all together. Then they revised tally charts by counting their individual packets of skittles. From there they moved onto answering questions about the ratios of different colours of skittles compared to each other. The lesson also had an element of self-control practise as they weren’t able to eat the skittles until right at the end of the lesson!
