As the winter begins, we have been thinking about how humans and animals adapt to the cold. We learned that humans turn up the heating and put in more clothes. Some birds fly to warmer places and some animals have a big sleep. We talked about which animals sleep and learned this is called hibernation. The Reception children had fun outside building their own hibernation dens. The Reception children also did some beautiful hedgehog and bat paintings. We have also looked at our world and which places are hot and which are cold. We have begun to learn about different climates and which animals live in hot/cold habitats.
