Class Penguin
So much has been going on in our class this half term so far. We started with a fun Reward Day when all the children wore their weekend clothes and brought a special toy to show everyone. This was not only lots of fun but also helped us think about our toys and what they are made of so that we could compare our plastic toys to the toys from the past. This supported our learning through our Toys topic this term and everyone loved showing off their special toys.
We have been finding out about how people around the world, from different cultures and beliefs celebrate. We listened to the Hindu story of Ganesh and were fascinated by how this Hindu god got his elephant head. We coloured bright pictures of Ganesh and made elephants with decorated head dresses. We have also been improving our rhyming skills through BBC Supermovers and stories. We loved the well known picture books - Oi said the Frog and This is the Bear and the Scary Night.
We have also been busy in the continuous provision using and improving our making and imaginative skills. We have made lots of interesting models with paper plates, boxes, bricks and duplicate. Our models are becoming very complex with interesting stories behind what each one is. We do love the ships, kennels, transformers, musical instruments and the whole range of objects the children make each session. What imaginative designers, artists and engineers we have in Class Penguin!
